Written by phenomenal criminal justice lawyer Bryan Stevenson (@eji_org), Just Mercy is the harrowing account of his profession in Southern USA where racism and injustice is rife.
Just Mercy is about Stevenson’s progression as a lawyer in which he details key cases that have stuck with him. He deals, in the main, with death row cases which are either wrongfully convicted or wrongfully sentenced. The case that runs through the book is that of Walter Macmillan who is on death row for the murder of a white woman that he definitely didn’t commit.
Stevenson mentions many other people who’s lives are ruined by unjust sentencing and outright miscarriages of justice from trying children as adults to disregarding mental ill-health.
Just Mercy is about one man and his team fighting a system that is grotesquely broken. A must read for a better understanding of continuing events in America ❤️📚
