QOTD: Would you agree to a flatshare with a stranger? 🏡
“Life is often simple, but you don’t notice how simple it was until it gets incredibly complicated.”
The Flatshare is an uplifting and sweet romantic comedy about two people sharing a flat, who never meant to meet each other.
Tiffy is broke, newly single and desperate for a decent place to live. Leon needs cash, badly. A flatshare seems like a great solution – their schedules never overlap (Tiffy works days, while Leon only works night shift), so why not share this cosy, single-bedroom flat? As they start communicating via notes, they begin to get to know one another and to open up and instantly establish a funny relationship.
As in the most romantic comedies, you can immediately guess how it is going to end. But this does not make Flatshare any less appealing on interesting – well-developed characters and unusual premises makes this an adorable, easy read. Everyone could do with a little bit of positivity these days!
On our talks decided not to delve into deeper meanings of the book an instead discussed questions like: would we ever consider doing something like sharing a bed with a stranger, even at different times. While hard pass for us, we admitted that Tiffy and Leon pulled it off perfectly. Another interesting point to talk about was the fact that the author wrote the book from both characters point of view – this showed us emotions, choices and words going through both of the Tiffy and Leon heads.
To summarise – it is a very well written, cute and charming, utterly positive book. Would highly recommend.
