QOTD: What was the last thriller you read? 😊📖
⛓️ Your child is missing, and the only way to get him back is to pay a small ransom and kidnap another kid. The Chain must continue. You are not the first, and you won’t be the last. The Chain will get you through.
⛓️ The book is split into two parts. In the first half, you are following steps of cancer survivor mum and drug-addicted, ex-military uncle while they are trying to perform the unthinkable – hold somebody’s else’s child as a hostage, hoping to get her daughter back. This part is exceptionally well written and thrilling – emotions sound real, and nothing looks to be forced or out of place.
⛓️ The second part of the book was where, in my opinion, it started to lose the plot slightly. We are now beginning to look deeper into the Chain, and people behind it are introduced. I was disappointed that going towards the end, no major twist was revealed. Also, the last scene was taken directly from the Hollywood action film instead of a good thriller book.
⛓️ To summarize – it is not a bad thriller, but also nothing extraordinary. It’s a nice read to get you through a couple of nights and not to overthink after you finished.
