Lockdown + Easter holidays = lots of reading this April!
These five plus Girl, Woman, Other that I swapped with my pal @laura.diggens for Lanny.
So here ya go – my April round up:
1. Girl, Woman, Other by @bernardineevaristowriter ~ see previous post
2. Lanny by Max Porter ~ his second novel is weird and wonderful; totally unique, fast paced and ethereal about an unusual boy called Lanny (post to come). 3. Big Sky by Kate Atkinson (thank you @or_anderson) ~ a Jackson Brodie novel set in the North East of England – a delightful ‘who dunnit?’ with many layers – the perfect distraction.
4. The Light Between Oceans by M L Steadman ~ set on the West Coast of Australia, a brilliant story about right and wrong – great escapism with an emotional end 😢. 5. Portrait in Sepia by @allendeisabel ~ the third book in her trilogy about a Chilean family split between San Francisco and Santiago – Allende does family sagas and beautiful story-telling like no other.
6. Exit West by Moshin Hamid ~ speculative fiction about immigration and refugees in the modern world. Centred around two characters who must leave their war torn character in search of a better life.

  1. Did you read any of Kate Atkinson’s other Jackson Brodie novels before you read Big Sky? Do you need to have done or can I jump straight in? X
