If anyone was going to write something beautiful during the pandemic it was obviously going to be Zadie Smith, the queen of understanding humans and putting this into extraordinary sentences.

Six essays fill this tiny little book which were written in lockdown as Smith’s way of coping. She discusses the experiences of the pandemic from snapshots of daily life to an analysis of the suffering endured.

To be read all at once or bit by bit but almost certainly to be revisited even after we come out the other side of the ‘new normal’, if we ever do.

Also all proceeds go to charity – one of which is @eji_org (author of Just Mercy – see previous post) – so you should buy it for that reason alone! ❤️📚 @penguinukbooks @penguinbooks
