Following the recent death of this wonderful author, Judith Kerr, I thought advocating her excellent book ‘When Hitler Stoke Pink Rabbit’ would be an appropriate tribute.
I read this the summer before training as a history teacher at my tutors recommendation and loved it!
It follows a family and specifically the 9 year old Anna who escaped Nazi Germany in the late 1930s.
It is a wonderful depiction of pre war Europe when Hitler was ruling through fear and oppression. Writing from the point of view of a child, Kerr shows a different perspective of the horrors and terror Hitler inflicted on the innocent. A must read in my opinion ❤️📚

  1. I read this first asa 9year old in ‘75. I have reread it annually. I fell in love with Anna’s family and learnt about her perspective. My parents are war survivors and were the same age as Anna.
