“At the end of the day, whether one returns to the past or travels to the future, the present doesn’t change.”
Before the Coffee gets cold was a quirky little book that we found to be quick and easy to read. It follows the time-travelling journeys of four different guests to the cafe in Japan and asks the million-dollar question: if you could travel back in time, would you?
Lately, we have been trying to introduce a little more Asian literature into our reading lists. This little book appealed to us because of the strange concept (Time travelling cafe) and obviously – a cat on the cover. It is all about little things in life, isn’t it? 😂
This story is not less about time travel as it is more about relationships, love, loss and life in general. This is a collection of 4 connecting stories with heartful message in each one of them. Whilst reading, it may sound like a story is a little choppy – and we very quickly found the reason why. The book is adapted from the play. And we would like to see it now, one tiny problem – we may have to go to Japan for it.
It is a beautiful and honest book. Full of warmness and hope.
QOTD: would you like to go back in time?
3.5 out of 5 combined from both of us.
